Frequently Asked Questions
If you have questions that are not answered here, please email mentorship@icg600.com.
Application Questions:
Can I participate as a mentor AND a mentee?
No, applicants will only be chosen to be a mentor or mentee, not both. You may submit applications to be a mentor and a mentee. If selected, you will only be selected for one.
Can I still apply to the program if I’ve missed the deadline?
No, only applications submitted by the deadline of November 16th at 11:59pm PT will be considered.
When will I hear about the status of my application?
We will review applications starting in November and notify you if you have been selected and matched with a mentor/mentee in late January.
Can I save my application progress before submitting?
Yes, you can save your application progress before submitting by clicking “Save” at the bottom of the form. It will prompt you to add an email address to save your submission and continue your form later. You will receive an email from Jotform with your unique application link to continue filling out your application.
How long does it take to complete the application?
The application can take 30 mins to 1 hour to complete. The more details you provide in your responses, the easier it will be for us to identify the best match possible.
Can I edit my application after submitting?
No, you cannot edit your application after submitting. However, if it’s before the deadline, you may submit another application and the most recently submitted application will be the one that is considered and reviewed.
What kinds of questions are asked in the application?
The application consists of background information, including your work experience, and short answer questions. The short answer questions will ask about your interest in the program and what you are looking for in a mentor/mentee. For example, we ask about your long-term career goals and your interests inside and outside of work.

Program Questions:
Can I ask my mentor for a job?
No, mentees should not participate in the Mentorship Program with an expectation of employment from their mentor.
Is this a hands-on training program?
No, the Mentorship Program offers mentees an opportunity to be paired with a mentor that can share knowledge, offer guidance, and support.
What type of mentee is this mentorship program geared towards?
This program is geared towards two types of mentees. On the mentee application, you will note if you prefer Track 1 - for mentees who seek career development within their current classification or Track 2 - for mentees who seek strategies on how to change classification. We will do our best to match you based on your response to this question. We recommend selecting and focusing on one track for the program.
How are matches made?
The Mentorship Program Committee members and Mentorship Consultant create the matches based on responses to applications and consider the following criteria: professional alignment, shared interests, and geographic location.
Do I really need to meet with my mentor or mentee for 10 sessions over the 5 months of the program?
The frequency and duration of the sessions are not mandated. We strongly recommend meeting twice a month, especially at the start of the 5 months so that mentors and mentees can get to know each other well. And as the program continues, meeting twice a month helps to foster continuity. Ultimately, each match will determine the frequency, duration, and format that works best for them. Past program participants who maintained a consistent rhythm to their meetings often reported the strongest results.
What does a typical mentorship session look like? Is it virtual or in-person? How long will it last?
The onboarding sessions for mentors and mentees will offer recommendations for discussion topics and activities to integrate into mentorship sessions. Integrating the guidance offered is optional. Each match ultimately decides the format, duration, and frequency that works best for them.
