Entertainment Union Coalition Press Statement on California Film Commission TV Allocations Announcement

August 27th, 2025 - Today’s announcement from the California Film Commission of 22 television productions selected to receive California’s film and television tax incentive marks an important step forward for our industry and our state as thousands of middle-class California families see an opportunity for a stable and sustainable future here.
According to the California Film Commission, this allocation reflects a doubling of the number of productions, jobs, and revenue generated for the California economy from the last TV allocation in December 2024. These projects were chosen from among a record-breaking 400% increase in submissions.
The results speak to everything our members voiced over the last 10 months about the value of this industry and all of the hard work of our supporters in Sacramento who made fighting for these middle-class jobs a priority.
The productions selected will result in good union jobs for our members across the state, along with supporting thousands of small businesses that rely on our industry. We expect the positive impact of these new productions to be realized over the next few months. These productions mean real jobs that support working families, small businesses, and communities across California.
Representing 165,000 entertainment union and guild members in California, our coalition worked closely with Governor Newsom to expand funding to this program and with Assemblymember Zbur and Senator Allen and their co-authors to strengthen it. Next, we will see the feature film allocations made this fall to build on the movement towards growth and opportunity across the state.
We thank the lawmakers who championed this effort and recognized the urgent need to invest in the workers and infrastructure that keep this industry strong. We will continue to call on the studios to reflect the commitment of Governor Newsom and the California Legislature in their own commitment to California.
