Oscar Nominees for Achievement in Cinematography

24 January 2017

Local 600 congratulates our members and their crews nominated at this year’s Academy Awards.

This morning, Bradford Young (“Arrival”), Linus Sandgren (“La La Land”), Greig Fraser (“Lion”), James Laxton (“Moonlight”), and Rodrigo Prieto (“Silence”) were nominated for Best Achievement in Cinematography (the same five nominated at this year’s ASC Awards). Of the five nominees, Prieto is the only previous Academy Award nominee. He was nominated for “Brokeback Mountain” in 2006.

Robert Legato was nominated for Best Achievement in Visual Effects for his work on “The Jungle Book”. Legato has won two Academy Awards for Visual Effects. His first win was for “Titanic” in 1998 followed by “Hugo” in 2012.

Best of luck to all the nominees!
