Clean Tech Pavilion at Cine Gear Expo Los Angeles 2025

On June 6 and 7, the Clean Tech Pavilion at Cine Gear Expo Los Angeles brought clean mobile power into the spotlight through peer-led programming and strong film community engagement. The two-day event offered hands-on opportunities to test clean mobile power batteries such as Voltstack, Intagrid, Anton/Bauer EDEN, MOXION, and CLEANGEN J250. Vendors like Saniset Fleet, #SetLife, NUE, Set Zero, and Sunbelt were able to showcase their electric commercial vehicles, DC fast charging solutions, and electric generators. In addition, the Sustainable Entertainment Alliance led tech talks that revolved around topics like "Cinematography in the battery era", "Building a clean tech toolkit," and "What crew want from clean tech vendors.” This fostered meaningful dialogue around sustainable production practices. Crew participation was high, with union support from IATSE Locals 728 and 600, Teamsters Local 399, and IBEW Local 40. Overall, this event helped raise awareness about clean energy solutions and gave insight into the industry’s needs as we move toward more environmentally friendly production practices.

Local 600 Filmscape Chicago Panel Recap

On June 21 at Filmscape Chicago 2025, the Local 600 Sustainability Committee hosted a class on the “Lifecycle of Electronics.” The class was taught by Ellen White of Ecofixr and Colette Gabriel of Keslow Camera. The class explored the five principles of responsible electronic practices: refuse, reduce, reuse, repair, and recycle. The class went into detail on each step, including a demonstration from Colette on camera care and parts that can be reused. The highlights included a conversation about “right to repair” laws and options to explore prior to recycling, including local organizations that refurbish old electronics and distribute them to underprivileged students and community members. Avoiding e-waste in our landfills is imperative (and illegal in Illinois), so knowing the many steps to prolong our electronics will help ensure we are taking better care of our planet.
