In a surprise victory, cinematographer John Bailey has been elected the 36th president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the organization that annually presents the Oscars for excellence in filmmaking.

The IATSE continues its strike against Head Shop LLC's production of "HeadShop," shooting in Los Angeles. The producers have refused to sign a collective bargaining agreement to cover our work, and are still shooting with a nonunion crew that has crossed the IATSE picket line.

We are pleased to inform Local 600 members that billing statements are now available online. In addition to hard copies being sent through U.S. Mail, members will receive an email notification that their billing statements are online.

It is with great sadness that Local 600 announces veteran Camera Operator and longtime union activist Bruce MacCallum passed away in Los Angeles this past Monday evening.

ICG Publicists will donate $10,000 each to the Motion Picture & Television Fund and the Actors Fund. These donations were made possible from surplus funds generated by the 54th Annual ICG Publicists Awards held at the Beverly Hilton last March. The ICG Publicists chose to make these gifts in honor of its members and sponsors for the second year in a row. 

Rosco Laboratories and IATSE Local 600 is launching a new program in support of the Safety for Sarah Foundation, a foundation that fosters safety in film production which was created in remembrance of camera assistant Sarah Jones, who was killed on the Midnight Rider film set in February, 2014.

Local 600 ICG will present a panel discussion featuring leading cinematographers and gaffers examining the impact of new LED lighting sources on feature films and TV creativity and production.

Local 600 members in specific classifications were mailed letters from CSATF on April 3 notifying them of the Refresher Training of the “A” – General Safety and “A2” – Environmental Safety courses.

The International Cinematographers Guild (IATSE, ICG Local 600) will host a production panel at the Virtual Reality Trade Show and Conference (VRLA) on Friday, April 14, at the Los Angeles Convention Center. (Time TBD)
