Life & Long-Term Disability Insurance

Enrollment is July 5, 2023, through September 30, 2023

Beginning July 5, 2023, benefits-eligible members of International Cinematographers Guild, IATSE Local 600 will have the opportunity to enroll in Voluntary Life and Long-Term Disability insurance through The Hartford.

 
VOLUNTARY LIFE INSURANCE 
It’s probably the last thing you want to think about, but dying suddenly is a possibility to be prepared for. If your family were to lose you, they would also lose your income. Would they need to lose their lifestyle too? The lump sum payout from Life Insurance provides an easy way for you to help protect the financial futures of those who depend on your paycheck.  

You can elect Life insurance coverage up to the following amounts:  

  • For Yourself: Increments of $10,000 to a maximum of $500,000  
  • For Your Spouse: Increments of $5,000 to a maximum of $100,000 (or 50% of your supplemental coverage, whichever is less) 
  • For Your Child(ren): $10,000  

During this limited time only: If you became a new member between July 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023 and are eligible for benefits, you have a special opportunity to enroll in coverage up to the amounts show below – with no medical questions asked: 

  • For Yourself: Increments of $10,000 to a maximum of $100,000  
  • For Your Spouse: $5,000, $10,000, $15,000 or $20,000  
  • For Your Child(ren): $10,000  
 
LONG-TERM DISABILITY INSURANCE 
You don’t have the time for a serious illness or injury. And your budget can’t afford it either. But that doesn’t mean it can’t happen. Disability insurance can make both easier to manage. Of course, your health insurance will help cover medical expenses. But what about the lost income from being out of work? Your family may need that money to keep your household going. Disability insurance can help. 

  • Help protect your paycheck after a serious accident or illness. If your annual union earnings are at least $40,000, you are eligible to enroll in coverage to protect 60% of your earnings, up to a maximum of $6,000 per month.
